Menu Plan Monday - Week of October 11

Thanks for visiting for our weekly Menu!!  This post is part of Menu Plan Monday at OrgJunkie.com.

We are feeding our family on $1 per person per day - with as very little eating out as possible.  We will have slip ups, but as a family of 4 working to pay off our consumer debt, we are dedicated to as many home-cooked meals as possible.

Monday:  Chicken & Fried Rice

Tuesday:  Home-made Hamburgers

Wednesday:  Hot Dogs

Thursday:  Dinner With The Finley's (Financial Peace University night)

Friday:  Breakfast Friday!!  Sausage links, Scrambled Eggs, Toast

Saturday Lunch:  My Mom & Dad are visiting, and will be providing lunch

Saturday Dinner:  I will be trying my hand at Lobster Risotto for the first time!  I will also be picking up fresh lettuce for a salad - which we do not have in our stock currently

Sunday Lunch:  Frozen Pizza

Sunday Dinner:  Oven BBQ chicken breast, corn, mashed potatoes

The kids will be home from school this week on Monday, and we have a freezer full of frozen pizzas for them to munch on for lunch that day!

We always plan our weekly menu on our current stock of food.  This is how we can most reliably feed our family on a minimal amount of money!

Feed My Family for $1 Per Day???

Hello all!  I'd like to share with you the new Bradley plan.  We've been practicing for 2 weeks and been very successful - having $10 left over last week to apply to food this week.  It is possible...we are feeding our family for $1 per person per day.

Yes that's right.  $28 per week for food for our family.

I'll be posting our weekly shopping trips under "$1 Per Day."  Stay tuned!!

I can honestly say...

I haven't blogged like I thought I would.  I really expected moving from a primarily "coupon blog" to a "family blog" would be just what I wanted.  But it seems that this is just a part of my life where I'm truly lacking...finding time to blog for myself.

And I promise, I have had lots to say!

I actually am feeling much more in my own element these days.  We have started doing Dave Ramsey's FPU with our dear friends the Finley's.  And yes, I'm couponing...to an extent...not trying for all of the wonderful deals that may be out there.  We're actually budgeting $1 per day per person for FOOD.  All other necessities like toiletries and pet supplies are coming out of a different envelope.  And it is awesome.  I've never been less stressed about shopping.  What a grand feeling!!

I do believe that I will post my weekly budget review each week.  Would you like to see pictures of my purchases?  I do enjoy going back to see what the fruits of my labor are, and exactly how much I spent.

We had a "Gold Party" 2 weeks ago, and I made about $400.00!  What a crazy time that was!!  I never thought that I could clean out all of my OLD stuff and get that much money!!  And, we had a yard sale this past weekend and made over $500.00...Dave would be proud!

Allergies are horrible for me living in Southeastern Missouri.  I hate it.  Every fall (which is my favorite time of year) I get S..I..C..K..and this year is no exception.  So Benadryl has been a very close and intimate friend of mine!

So in celebration of my favorite time of year, I'm posting some of my favorite pictures from around the internet.  I love the smells and the colors...and of course the feeling of the air.  We had a mini-frost last night, but none of my garden flowers seem to have suffered.  I will enjoy the tranquility of the cooler mornings while watching the season take from me what I have enjoyed all summer.  But I know that God allows these times so that things can begin anew in the spring.

I hope that you're all enjoying the change of season as much as I am.  I hope that you enjoy these pictures...I just love them!

Congratulations to comment number 5

WhirlingVortex said... I've frozen yoplait in the cup it came in. It was tasty, but was kinda hard to get out of the cup. Popsicle molds would be perfect for it. My favorite is Key Lime Pie. Yum!

**OVER** Yoplait Whips Giveaway!

Fall is here, and one of the ways that we wind down into fall with our kids is by baking.  They love cookies and cakes and pies and well, pretty much anything SWEET.  We also take advantage of other snacks that are light, but still have the ability to satisfy our sweet cravings.  I won't lie, we are ice cream LOVERS and sometimes, well, its just not convenient for us to have it here at home.  One thing that I have found, though, is that in lieu of have real ice cream, yogurt is PERFECT to satisfy that craving...right out of the freezer!

And, so your family can try our little secret of "freezing" yogurt, Yoplait though MyBlogSpark has given us an amazing little prize pack to giveaway to one of our lucky readers!

In the meantime, visit Yoplait's Facebook page and click "like!"

We've found that removing the yogurt from the freezer about 5 minutes before we dig in is the most effective way to enjoy this little snack - not too hard and not too soft!  This prize pack is wonderful because you will receive (just like we did):

A VIP coupon for a free sample of Yoplait Whips! yogurt
A canvas cooler bag
A set of four ice cream shaped popsicle molds
